The United Methodist Free Church on Dale Street, now known as Thornes House, dates back to 1857 when it was built at the height of religious fervour in Ossett. The old church has now been converted into modern apartments.

This memorial was rescued from the United Methodist Church on Dale Street when the church was developed into residential apartments. The memorial is now cared for by the Ossett Memorial Community Centre on Prospect Road. You'll notice that this memorial is dated 1914-1920.
