Original South Parade Wesleyan Chapel, Ossett in 1907 |
Before the existing St. John's Wesleyan Chapel was built on South Parade in 1908, the earlier chapel (shown above) served the non-conformist worshippers in this part of Ossett. The old chapel was built circa 1846 and I think survived into the 1970s at least, before being demolished and replaced by houses. John Goodchild in his "Ossett in Picture Postcards" book says this about St John's Wesleyan Chapel:
Sadly, the graveyard is now in a very sorry state of disrepair and it isn't easy to get around the site. |
