A picture showing a group of men including the then Lord Mayor of Ossett, J.T. Marsden (with ceremonial chain) walking in procession to the opening ceremony for the newly completed Ossett Town Hall in June 1908. The scholarly gentleman wearing a mortar-board is thought to the Rev. John Henry Kirk, Vicar of South Ossett, (1892 – 1911) who would have been the Mayor’s (John Thomas Marsden) chaplain at the time. None of the others in the picture have yet been identified, but presumably are well-known amongst the great and good of Ossett folks back then?
